Hello 875,
This fascinating story recently aired on PBS. Please click
on the link below and see how the culture keepers of Mali saved priceless
manuscripts during the recent conflict in this North African country.

Based on the readings this week, do you think a massive Google books digitization
type project would be appropriate just in case the rebels decide to come back
again? And then, right after the Mali story aired, author George Sanders was
interviewed. He talked about his new book, Tenth of December. While it is not
exactly a trashy novel, it is a book of interesting short stories. I would
highly recommend this book as the next selection for my music library colleague’s
book club. http://www.pbs.org/newshour/bb/entertainment/jan-june13/saunders_02-04.html
